60 seconds every 60 minutes will make a big difference in the way your body feels and your mind functions throughout your day. Stretch your body in the opposite direction in which you have been for the last hour. Whether you sit at your desk a lot or on your feet all day, try using these stretches throughout your day.
Standing or sitting position – Take a deep breath and on your exhale, tighten your stomach, clasp your fingers together, stretch your arms over your head reaching toward the ceiling and look up and slightly arching your back. Hold for a few seconds. Repeat 2 - 3 times.
Standing or sitting position – Take a deep breath and on your exhale, tighten your stomach, stretch your arms behind your back and grab your hands together pulling your shoulders back and squeezing them together slightly arching your back and looking up to the ceiling. Repeat 2 - 3 times.
Standing position – Balance yourself on something, tighten your stomach, and pull your right foot towards your bottom and grab your ankle if you can and hold for 10 seconds. Alternate legs.
Repeat 2 – 3 times.
Standing position – Slightly bend your knees, take a deep breath, tighten your stomach, and lean towards your toes, holding your knees if you have to, until you feel the stretch at the back of your leg.
Stretching should not hurt! These simple stretches are only meant to give relief to muscles that have been in a constant position for a while.
Up Your Game: Stretching for 15 – 30 minutes every day can make a huge difference in your body. There is an abundance of great stretches that can up your health game and help in making your body feel more youthful and energetic. Find a routine that feels good and works for you then gradually up your time.
